Two days before half term we started to learn about China and The Chinese New Year. We have continued this week, alongside other learning tasks.

We shared our half term news and wrote a simple sentence about what we did over the half term break.

For Chinese New Year, we read the story about the great animal race, wrote a list of all the animals in the race, made Chinese lanterns, joined in a dragon dance, made the flag of China, and found the country on a map. We have also enjoyed our new Chinese restaurant role play.

In maths, we have sorted object cards into 9 and 10 and have been finding different ways to make these totals using dominoes.

On Tuesday we were very lucky as a real author visited us.  Simon Murray shared his book ‘Icky Doo Dah’, and we all learnt how to draw the monster from the book following step by step instructions. The children produced some fantastic artwork and are now looking forward to book week!

Below is a slideshow of the children in action!
