Year 1 have had a another super week of learning.
We have enjoyed recapping phonic sounds this week and completing wordsearches. We are very good at them!
Our topic in English the last couple of weeks has been Julia Donaldson. We have enjoyed listening to some of her stories. We focused on the story 'Room on the Broom' and worked in groups to retell the story. We then thought about a character we could add to the story who would find something of the witches.
On a Monday afternoon we have PE coaching with Katie. She has been helping us with our throwing and catching skills and having control over a ball.
In Maths we have been looking at numbers from 11 to 20. We have been thinking about how many tens and ones are in a 2 digit number and used ten frames and counters to help us.
We have been creating self-portraits during our art lessons and have used the computer, oil pastels and paint. This week we looked at the artist Andy Warhol and the idea of popart. We created our own version by drawing pictures of ourselves and lots of colour.
In Science we have been learning about our 5 senses. This week we focused on our sense of smell and had 5 different cups we needed to smell and guess what we inside. We were very good at guessing the items and thought the garlic was very smelly!
Please look at the slideshow of photos to see what we have been up to.
