This half term started with us learning about ‘Winter’. We went on a walk to look for signs, it was very cold and frosty! We looked at ice and used our senses to describe it. Then we set up an experiment to see where an ice cube would melt quickly. We predicted which ice cube would melt first, and we thought of reasons why. We also looked at cold places in the world, in particular the Arctic and Antarctica. We learnt about polar animals and how some live in the Arctic and some live in Antarctica.

We were lucky to see the very cute Labrador puppies that visited the school. Lots of the children enjoyed stroking them.

In maths, we have being using scales to weigh objects, we learnt to say if an object was heavier or lighter and we also tried to find objects that were similar so the scales would be balanced.

This week we started our ‘Fairy tales’ topic by reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We have enjoyed role-playing the story in our cottage, making our own fairy tale masks, and different size chairs and beds for the compare bears from various construction kits.  We have written about Goldilocks in our writing books.

It has been a busy start to the term. Have a look at the slideshow below to see us enjoying our learning.
