As part of our ‘Position and Direction’ topic in maths, Year 2 enjoyed moving around the playground using the language, ‘forwards’, ‘backwards’, ‘left, ‘right’ and ‘steps’. Once the children had mastered this, they took on the challenge of trying to remember a sequence of instructions to follow.
In music, we have been exploring musical rhythms and structure by listening to, analysing and performing our own songs based on the legend, ‘Saint George and the Dragon’.
In science we have been thinking about what materials would make a suitable, eco-friendly plant pot, investigating the strength and flexibility of different materials when both wet and dry.
We have enjoyed reading books about plants and also about Islam which is our RE topic this half-term. Mrs Blanshard also read a little more of a book her father has written about their former family dog, Izzie. Mr Moss came in to talk to Year 2 about Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and the book he has written about Izzie’s life from a stray dog in Dublin to a Hearing Dog (well almost!) during Book Week.
We have been designing and making our DT sewing project an applique book character.
We all enjoyed sports day!
Stay cool this weekend at T-Fest.
