We have had another super week of learning in Year 1 this week.

In maths we have been partitioning two digit numbers into tens and ones. We used cubes to help us do this.

We have enjoyed using the computers to create our own animated story. We created pictures and text, working on our typing skills. We then added sound and movement to our pictures.

Our science topic is animals and we have been grouping animals into mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds and fish. We thought about their different characteristics and used clay to create an animal. We thought carefully about their bodies and different features we would need to include.

We are looking at Kenya and in art created Kenya animals silhouette pictures. They look lovely on our Kenya display. We then created our own animal posters about animals you would find in Kenya like lions, giraffes and rhinos.

In English we focused on nouns and adjectives, making sure we knew what they were. We then used nouns from Handa's Surprise to write our own sentences.

We all really enjoyed the sponsor run on Thursday morning and Year 1 really impressed us all with their super running!

We have been really busy this week practicing for our class assembly. We went to Church for a rehearsal and were amazing! We can't wait for you to see it.
